WHAT FABRIC FOR A SUIT FOR THE GROOM?

The fabrics of suits can vary greatly in weight. In the winter, you could choose a slightly thicker fabric, but that would be at the expense of comfort. For a suit for the groom, we recommend suits made from a fabric that is not too heavy. After all, wearing a ‘heavy’ suit all day can be quite strenuous. You won’t find many heavy fabrics at ROKA. The majority of ROKA’s suits are designed for weddings in spring, summer, and autumn (220 to 270 grams fabrics)

TWO OR THREE-PIECE MEN’S SUIT FOR THE GROOM?

A two-piece suit for the groom consists of a jacket (blazer) and a pair of trousers (pantalon) made from the same fabric. A three-piece men’s suit also includes a waistcoat (vest) made from the same fabric as the rest of the suit. A two-piece suit for the groom can be made more festive with a waistcoat that can be purchased separately. So it is a two-piece suit with a separate waistcoat. In a three-piece suit, the waistcoat is made of the same fabric as the jacket and trousers.

AN ITALIAN SUIT FOR THE GROOM

Many men love Italian suits, and there are two reasons for that. Italians are known for their progressive designs and they use lightweight fabrics. The suits are made in a way that they stay perfectly in shape, and the fabrics and lining of the suit are super lightweight and soft. The majority of ROKA’s suits are made of the best Italian fabrics and craftsmanship.

HOW DO YOU RECOGNIZE A GOOD SUIT?

It all comes down to the fit and fabric choice. A good suit has slightly sloping shoulders and shows off the body shape at its best. A good suit provides a lot of comfort due to the high-quality outer fabric, supple lining fabric, and good inner lining. The pants fit well at the hips, contour the waist, and are close to the legs. The model is up to date. The length of the jacket, the content, and where the jacket closes should be modern. The quality of the fabric largely determines the quality of the suit. The use of lightweight fabrics can provide more comfort in the summer. Linen, mohair, and lightweight wool/silk are very suitable for this. Expensive lightweight fabrics (and therefore more expensive suits) are often more vulnerable than cheaper fabrics.

WHAT TO CONSIDER AS A GROOM WHEN BUYING A SUIT?

  • The suit must have a good fit.
  • Good fabric choice in combination with fit. A very thin fabric should not have a too tight fit due to its vulnerability.
  • Very slim fits preferably in stretch fabric for wear comfort.
  • High-quality lining fabric and buttons.
  • Good and flexible inner lining of the suit improves wear comfort.
  • Trousers fit well and close to the leg.

6 tips for buying a suit for the groom

Tip 1 for the groom

Bring a piece of fabric from your partner’s clothing choice.
Bring a piece of fabric from your partner’s clothing choice to ROKA. Often, the groom’s suit or custom-made suit is tailored to match the partner’s clothing. If your partner has bought her dress from a good bridal shop, she often gets a fabric sample to use when coordinating accessories, etc. If your partner has a different clothing choice than a wedding dress, also bring a piece of fabric from that to ROKA. That piece of fabric can be useful when purchasing your suit, so the accessories and custom-made suit can be precisely coordinated in terms of color with your partner’s clothing.

Tip 2 for the groom

Take enough time to look for your suit.
When can I start looking? A guideline is about 3-6 months before the wedding. A suit for the groom can be custom-made or available from stock, depending on your preferences, so allow for a delivery time of approximately 8 to 10 weeks for safety. Even if accessories need to be ordered, it can take some time. So take plenty of time!

Tip 3 for the groom

Make sure the proportions of your suit are correct.
For the groom’s suit, the correct sleeve length is crucial to the size of your suit. The groom’s suit should not pinch at the shoulders. It should not be too loose that the shoulders sag. With a 2-button jacket, it is important that the top button can be closed without creating wrinkles or creating space between the stomach and the jacket. The current trend is for the suit jacket to be quite short, approximately the same length as the sleeves. If you are tall, check the sleeve length of your jacket carefully. If the sleeves are too short, your jacket will also appear too short.

Tip 4 for the groom

Check if the fabric your suit is made of meets your requirements.
Check if the fabric your groom’s suit is made of meets the requirements you have set for it. The fabric your suit is made of has certain properties. Each fabric has its advantages and disadvantages. In a good store, you will be advised about the properties of the fabric so that your suit meets all your expectations.

Tip 5 for the groom

Try on different fits of suits for the groom.
Suits for the groom are made in different fits. Make sure the proportions of your suit are correct. Every man is unique, which is why it’s nice to try on different fits. You can feel right away if the fit is right for you. The shoulders fit well, and you feel the comfort of your suit. Check out a few custom-made groom’s suits from our online collection below by clicking on an image to get a detailed view of the groom’s suit.

Tip 6 for the groom

Go with a limited number of people to look for your suit.
Too many opinions can create insecurity. Bring only people whose opinions are important to you. We recommend not bringing more than 4 people (including the groom) to look for your suit.
